Nothing spooky in here, but done last year at about this time. There's a ghost with a human mask trick or treating.. so yeah this counts as a Halloween sketch.

Interview at Meaning-Full
Top of the muffin, all. Just linking an interview i did with the kind folks at Meaning-full. Great site that features a bulging cornucopia of cool artists to get inspired by.
And of course, if it's not mentioned in the interview, every time you see them purdy colours in the art, they come courtesy of Christina Strain!

Happy Rapture Day
Scanner continues to be screwy on me, but thought i'd post this anyway despite it being a photo. I'll update it later once i get this piece of junk sorted out..
A nod to Jen Grunwald for the idea!
*updated with a scan.. and a probably pointless change in script while i was at it.

What's The Word?
Thunderbird!
A sketch from earlier this year that started out as a girl walking on a Parisian street. Then came the camels.
Ghetto fabulous Thunderbird wine from E&J Gallo Winery is a cheap low end wine that's been unabashedly marketing itself to lower income folk since the 1957. The winery has been on the goodfoot since the 30s with Ernest Gallo wanting the company to be the 'Campbell's Soup' of the wine industry. The famous jingle from the radio ad went like this:
What's the word? Thunderbird!
How's it sold? Good and cold!
What's the jive? Bird's alive!
What's the price? Thirty twice!
Good days for hobos, high schoolers and anyone who wants to tell the world they've given up on their dreams. But dastardly villain from North By Northwest, James Mason, seems to enjoy having it wet his whistle. Apparently the light yellow liquid turns your mouth black. Mr. Mason appears to have skirted around that detail. Villains.
(I guess if you ask the above questions and get the appropriate response from a random tar mouthed stranger or friend, give that soul a hug! And tell them it'll all get better soon. Or you can run 'cos you're probably about to get robbed)
Oh. 'As above, so below'? I was watching a doc on freemasonry and this is one of their tenets, taken from the influential yet esoteric beliefs of Hermeticism. Quite interesting stuff for anyone who wants to read on it.

NYCC..
..and a trio of commissions.
Had a lovely time at this year's show! Thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth to say hi and check out Christina Strain's and my artbook, Sweetness. My love for all who made our trip to NY what it was for us is bigger than Metroplex. And we'll have the artbook available online as soon as we get our next shipments.
Thought i'd post a few commissions if it's cool with the owners. Apologies in advance if it ain't. Let me know!
Storm for (and scan courtesy of) Brett White. Check out his blog here.
Emma Frost for (and scan courtesy of) Chris Shields. Via his very impressive White Queen Gallery.

Look ma! Ephelant!
Drawn somewhat with the 1950's posters re-discovered last year in the London Underground in mind. The super cool frozen-in-time section was unearthed while upgrades to Notting Hill Gate station were being made.
Has me wondering if there's any places like this hidden underneath or within Toronto.

NYCC Commissions
Hi friends and allies! I'm taking a pre-con commission list for NYCC this year, though i'm not attending as a guest. I'll be a-lurking, but you may catch me hanging around Christina Strain's booth a lot.
If you're interested, email me at aalphona at gmail stop com full stop
Oh. And remember to stop by for a looksee at her booth for, among other things, our coloured book Sweetness. And prints! And stickers!
